Congratulations to our 2024 Honorees!
Dorothy “Dot” Christenson epitomizes informed citizen activism. She founded one of the early Adult Day Care Centers for seniors and directed a 5-year Federal Medicare Alzheimer’s Research Project that explored the viability of various home care supports to assist caregivers to keep their family member at home. A long term advocate for fair housing, Dot served as Executive Director of the Better Housing League. Still today Dot champions support for resources that strengthen our diverse community. Dot is author of Keep On Fighting: The Life and Civil Rights Legacy of Marian A. Spencer. Dot’s nominator says, “Dot is open-minded and constantly works on projects as a professional and individual that help people live better lives (i.e. affordable housing, the Jeanette Rankin Foundation, Woman’s City Club of Greater Cincinnati) and without making a lot of noise or putting herself in the spotlight.”
Louise Roselle has dedicated her legal life to helping people. When she began her career in 1972, there were not many women practicing law. She jumped right in at the newly formed Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, where she prepared air pollution control regulations before moving on to U.S. Environmental Protection Agency enforcing the Clean Air Act in the states of Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio. Louise is now retired from law firm work, but is not retired as a lawyer. She volunteers nearly ten hours each week on the Legal Helpline for Pro Seniors and is currently serving on the Cincinnati Bar Foundation Board.
Linda Tache says, “I just do what I enjoy – it’s fun!” Her fun includes her support of CET Connect and her participation on the Action Auction committee for over 40 years! Seniors Who Rock is Pro Seniors’ one-of-a-kind awards presentation honoring inspirational Ohio seniors who continue to impact the community. While recognizing these valuable and valued older Ohioans, Seniors Who Rock also raises essential funds to advance our mission.
Since 2015, Pro Seniors has been challenging ageism by recognizing older adults for their continuing service to improve our community and motivate others to do the same. Our honorees are at least 70 years old, and they are active, working or volunteering and adding a value to our community!
Will you Sponsor 2025 Seniors Who Rock?
While most people who call Pro Seniors for help are experiencing challenges associated with limited income, a health crisis, or even abuse, neglect, or exploitation, by empowering older Ohioans we promote aging as a time for triumph and celebration.
Each Seniors Who Rock sponsorship supports critical services like advocacy for people in nursing homes, education to avoid health care fraud and scams, and legal help for seniors facing situations that threaten their financial security. Your sponsorship improves access to justice for Ohio seniors while also increasing awareness of your organization’s community involvement.
