Hi everyone! Thank you for joining me again this week.
I’m learning that a pressing issue is regarding Social Security changes and updates, and how these changes may affect our older, and more vulnerable populations. The Social Security Administration has faced large staff and budget cuts as illustrated in the chart below, courtesy of the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.
As of February 2025, more than 55 million Americans aged 65+ receive social security benefits, meaning that any change made to the Social Security Administration (SSA) will affect millions of Americans.
Did you know that “Among Social Security beneficiaries aged 65+, Social Security represents 50% or more of their income for 37% of men and 42% of women, and 90% or more of their income for 12% of men and 15% of women”?
