Veterans Legal Services

Low-income veterans in Ohio, who are 60 or older, face a lot of obstacles when it comes to getting good legal representation.  Pro Seniors’ Veterans Legal Services help connect veterans to an attorney who will provide excellent legal assistance while making sure to respect the veteran’s rights and maintain his or her independence and dignity.

Why call Pro Seniors?   Ohioans often call to ask about Medicare, Medicaid, Veterans Benefits, Medicaid estate recovery, living wills, durable powers of attorney for health care, housing, and consumer problems.

Veterans Legal Corps – How We Help

If you are a veteran age 60 or over, living in Butler, Clermont, Clinton, Hamilton or Warren County, Pro Seniors may be able to provide full legal representation related to the following issues:  Advance Directives, Financial Power of Attorney, Medicaid, Medicare, Probate Will, Social Security and Veterans Benefits.  If you believe you are eligible, please call 513-345-4160 or 1-800-488-6070.

Monthly Veterans Legal Clinic

What if you need legal advice on another topic?  The Veterans Justice Outreach  project at Cincinnati VA Medical Center partners with Pro Seniors & Greater Cincinnati Legal Aid to offer a monthly Legal Clinic. This legal clinic is available to any veteran with any legal question for quick advice (if the attorney can assist) and for referral to other legal services that can help answer their question.

The walk-in legal clinic is offered on the 2nd Monday of each Month, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, at the Cincinnati VA Medical Center.  Due to COVID-19, walk-in appointments are suspended and the VA is taking calls, instead.  Calls to their Veterans Justice Outreach line involving civil legal needs/expungement-related matters during the scheduled legal clinic hours, are forwarded to the appropriate legal services organization.

During these Legal Clinic hours, veterans age 60 or over who have questions about civil legal needs such as housing, family issues or access to benefits may also call Pro Seniors directly at (513) 345-4160 to be connected to an attorney for a Veterans Legal Clinic phone appointment.

Legal Helpline

Even outside of the monthly Veterans Legal Clinic hours, Pro Seniors’ Legal Helpline provides free legal information, advice, and referral for residents of Ohio age 60 and over, regardless of income or resources.  Telephone appointments are scheduled in 30-minute blocks for eligible callers to talk to an attorney who handles Legal Helpline calls.  The attorney will work with a client until the case is closed, which means it has been resolved, or the case has been referred to a Pro Seniors’ staff attorney or to an outside attorney for, typically, a reduced rate.
